After so many years still a great place to eat American style in Japan
Great food steak cooked to our request. They also had coke zero which is difficult to find in Japanese restaurants and bars.
Insane portions, we're talking here about a deep fried onion stack 4 inches high and 20 cm around. What's nice is that healthy options are also served, and the service is good.
I'm very fond of restaurants that do offer children menu sets. Tony Roma's is not just a fantastic place for grown up food, but you can bring your children along...
If you're American or Canadian don't expect too much. The burger was ok but very expensive compare to the price and quality we can get in north america. On the plus side the hostess spoke perfect english but I'm pretty sure she was Filipino since even the best english speaking Japanese have an heavy accent.
Well it’s Tony Roma’s. Some people like this spot. And it’s kind of fun only the food is pretty poor. The baked potato is OK. I don’t know—if you like Tony Roma’s you’ll like this one. Basically it’s hard to see how you could get value for money here. To each their own. Location is at the base of Aeon Mall, a few minutes from the south exit of Kyoto Station.
The lunch special steak was mega rare and quite chewy. Burgers were nice and staff very friendly.
Fantastic service and food
Amazing ribs, everything I ate with my order was amazing. If you are an American looking for ribs look no further. By far the best BBQ ribs I have ever had.
Taste of home while in Japan!
Amazing service and food - a special thanks to the lovely Kay! :)The chicken wings and drinks were so delicious, I had to keep going back. Great atmosphere and definitely my favourite restaurant in Kyoto :)
2019/11We visited around 12:30 on weekdays. The restaurant table was about 25% full. The store is clean. The staff at the store is also kind.Food with a large volume at an affordable price is delicious. On holidays, it is better to reserve a seat.
Convenient location, waitress was lovely, bread was delicious, and it was very clean but I wouldn't eat here again. I'll admit, as an American, my opinion may be biased based on my personal expectations and experiences, but the food was infuriatingly subpar and we got very little for the $86 (USD) we spent. I feel like this restaurant takes total advantage of tourists who haven't adjusted well to Japanese food, like us, but that's just my opinion. We were more satisfied with a ham and cheese sandwich from a random cafe in Tokyo station or even Mcdonalds.
Very friendly helpful staff. Good food and fairly good value too.
Recommend the lunch set, as it's not too pricey and the place is relatively empty during that part of the day. They have various rib combos and burgers on the menu.
The waitress was great. However, the food was a tragedy. Pre-cooked, tasteless, sad looking and horribly over priced. Go somewhere else.
Good restaurant, nice atmosphere and great food presentation.
The staff are accomodating especially Caleb who always entertains us every time we go there. The food is fantastic. I love the baby back ribs so much! They also have cake for free for the birthday celebrants.
terrible service! The service was slow and we waited for a long time for our meal.
Chicken was dry pasta sauce had no flavor prices are expensive for subpar food. The only good food we received was the fries.
Great food!! If you are living in japan for years and want to Escape from your daily japanese flavor food then try it here. You won't regret it!
When craving North American food, this is one of the best places to go. The bbq ribs are lit! The meat just falls off the bones it’s great! The calamari taste like back home too. I love the Spinach-Artichoke dip! I wish I could take everything in a doggie bag! Perfect dinner before a movie or vice-versa. Weekends might get packed so make reservations just in case.
The ribs are good here. If you come for lunch, you can get them for a pretty reasonable price.
Great food and great service!
Friendly staff and is what it says on the label. The ribs were good but the sides werent anything special. Beers were nice and cold and the lady serving us had the usual Japanese friendliness and kindness.
Great service and great food! Loved the authentic American feel
Extremely overpriced for what seems like microwave food and terrible music selection (I'm not picky but who plays Lil John over dinner?). Only positive was the lovely wait-staff. If in Kyoto do yourself a favour and go to ANY of the plethora of local Japanese restaurants.
Good food and good service!
Great burger, saved us many a times while traveling around the city. Friendly staff and will cater to your needs 👌
Staff: Approved.Speed: Approved.Atmosphere: Approved.Flavor: Approved.
It was really nice especially hospitality. But foods was very nice and volume was good for male! Some baggettes were Shin shin Do!Anyway, I think totally different last year, every thing has changed. You should try do it if you were feeling bored Japanese meals.
Chill place to enjoy some nice American cuisine in the heart of the first imperial capital of Japan. Heavily recommend the Cabb salad and the BOR (big onion ring).
I recommend you spend your money elsewhere. Some of the food that we got was good, don't get me wrong. But the service made a ton of mistakes and was incredibly slow despite the fact that the restaurant was not packed at all. Mistakes were made on the meals that both cost us money and wasted our time. On top of that, it's not worth the price that they charge you. 900 yen for 6 chicken wings is horrible. It is the worst value restaurant I've been to in Kyoto and completely not worth it. I cannot see myself returning and I recommend that you don't either. Hard Rock Cafe is touristy as hell, but the portion sizes are better than Tony Roma's, the service is better, and the food is both cheaper and better. Hell, go to Shake Shack in kawaramachi if you want even better.
Food was fab so was the service and so was the wine!
Really good food and a good selection of food to choose from. Staff was friendly.
Had the lunch menu. Not busy so were sat at table straight away. Good value lunch special had the ribs & fried shrimp was a little small but really tasty. My wife had the grilled chicken sandwich and is still saying how nice it was the day after. Service was very friendly and staff helpful especially because our Japanese is very limited. Overall would come again.Excepts Visa card.
Good meat, a little too much cooked maybe, but very tasty.
Place was everything I needed in my life. Chill with a side of 90s music. Food was great and service was spectacular. Bartender (Caleb) was super sweet and made the experience amazing. Family friendly.
Generous portions and lovely staff.
Delicious food, the waiters are very kind, and very foreigner friendly. Perfect dinner.
Food is expensive for what it is
One of the fairly American places in Japan that I visited. Every now and then when traveling I want to eat American but often it is nothing like the American version of the restaurant. This was an exception. Not a great place but decent American fare.
Incredible tast 👍, bad service 👎 especially with the foreigners costumers may be Racism🤷🏻♂️!!
Food was freshly cooked by a filipina chef.Baby back ribs and steak was superb and value for money indeed
Enjoyed the craft beer and the back ribs...
It’s been 2 years since I’ve been here for dinner. There seems to be a great decline in service and care taken of the customers and food preparation. Very disappointed.
Best restaurant experience I've had in Kyoto. While I have enjoyed many of the local food,I was craving something American, like BBQ ribs. In America, Tony Roma's used to be at similar level to The Macaroni Grill. After many closed, they became more like Applebee's or Chili's. I'm happy to say that the ribs in this one were very good. The service was excellent considering the level of the venue. I went to a high end restaurant during my stay in Kyoto and this restaurant was on par regarding their service. The staff was friendly and even brought out toys for the kids. Everyone enjoyed their food.I'd gladly eat here again. I apologise for the picture, presentation was a little better before I cut my portion in half so that I could share it.
For the same price we have dined at some pretty incredible places in Japan. I understand Tony Romas is a chain, however I think they should reconsider their prices if they are going to continue to serve low quality food. However the service deserves a shout out as both wait staff were fast, efficient and friendly.
We had the lobster fest plate and baby back ribs! Surely going back here again! Love it!
Overpriced and awful quality. Food was too oily and tasteless.
